no no, rena...i wouldn't scratch it off just yet. there's only got one fruit on the plant with BER...the rest are fine.
i was just trying to find out if i should remove that one fruit...or keep it for seeds.
i'll keep it for seeds now...and *eat* the rest.

Rena, I would definitely not scratch that one off. It is one great tomato. I grew two plants last year and not one had BER or anything else for that matter. It produced like crazy. It is one fabulous tomato. 9/10 for sure.

Rena,

I agree with the others on Ashleigh. It is an awsome tomato. If you don't have any seed I have some fresh 07 available.

I believe I have seeds from Deer Park. Now the UMF (Unseen Mystical Force) is working on me, tempting me to grow Ashleigh! Arrgh!

I had a whole pile of seeds in those little clear packets with white tags inside.
No Ashleigh though, (Man that was close.)

I have too many to cull this year as it is.

Worth,

I'll send you seed. My seed came direct from Neil. I have grown it every year and offer it in the yearbook. I always get 1-2lb fruit. The plants are always healthy and very productive.

Merry Christmas,
Michael

Michael you have a PM.
With a talk up like that I will just have to cull something.

And I will add I will save as much seed as I can for folks next year.

Some of you may have gotten seed from me if you participated in my last seed offer here and requested Ashleigh.

Neil is a long time friend who goes back to the early 90's when he was a subscriber to Off the Vine, the newsletter on tomatoes that Craig and I used to do.

And my initial seeds were also from Neil/

Actually I was filling some private seed orders yesterday and came across my envelope of Ashleigh seeds. I hope to inventory my seeds this week with the possibility of making another seed offer here. Time will tell. If I do I'll have to get an order phoned in to Staples ASAP b'c I'm just about out of #1 seed envelopes.

I'm so glad that Ashleigh is getting some positive comments here.

And just a word about BER. It's physiological not infectious and there are many variables involved. There are darn few varieties that I've grown that some fruits, usually the earliest ones, haven't had BER. Some years yes, some years no.
