LOL....It is not sad you ship out what you grow from your area. That is how we feed so much of the state and country is by the Bread Basket of California, but it is too bad you do not get some of it yourselves. Humboldt only grows a few things in quantity. [1] Redwood trees. It all pretty much comes from Humboldt. A little from Del Norte and Mendocino. [2] Marijuana is HUGE here and in Mendocino and Trinity Counties. It has gotten so bad that much of our forests are no longer safe in the summer months. I won't bore you with our problems on this any more than the above. [3] Milk and Beef. |

Oh yeah, did I mention I work in the Forest as a Wildlife Biologist. My biggest safety issue is not bears or mtn lions, it is pot growers.

Have you seen this?
http://www.gardenguides.com/123720-g...alifornia.html I found the "How to Grow California Poppies" link a little more than halfway down on the right especially amusing. (We get the seeds in mixed wildflower packets, and by the second summer after planting them it becomes obvious that the real question is how not to grow California Poppies. The same goes for Shasta Daisy.)
