Nice plants and peppers Mojave! I have some Hungarian Black peppers if anyone is interested in some seeds. They are not as hot as Jalapenos but still have some heat to it. It gets a little milder if you let it ripen to red.

Wow, Mojave! I'm drooling over that "haul" of yours. Those jalapenos are absolutely beautiful. I think I posted a recipe for easy poppers in the recipe section.

Mojave, I hope you don't mind my couple additional pics. I didn't want to start a whole other thread for it.

These plants are atop what used to be a great water oak tree with a trunk 15' across. FEMA and my better instinct told me to let them take it down. Stump grinding left a mess. We raked it out, amended with soil and planted on top of it in 2008. These peppers were planted in 2012. The ground has sunk. This is their second summer. There are four bushes.



Their stalks are about one inch or better in diameter.

Stepson planted these and they happened to take off. I am currently in the process of learning about tomatoes. This year he planted a jalapeno and a sweet banana pepper plant and both are doing fairly well. Personally, I want to successfully garden in containers.

I did order a shopping cart full of stuff from dollarseeds but the ordering process was way too complicated for me... involving snail mail, printing out forms and/or faxes. I suppose that's the by product of economical seeds. I'll take it one day at a time. Happy growing!

Bill, gorgeous pix especially the spider on pepper!
Around here the spiders often seem to colour coordinate with their plant - white ones on white roses, yellow on st.johnswort etc etc. Nice to see some high contrast. Wnat kind of pepper is it?

BTW the pix of PI281317 are wild.. keep em comin. I suspect the full grown pod will be looking like a pug dog! A tasty dog, I hope.
What's the scoop on Tasmanian Black, tastewise? Is it good black? How about in the red?

The spider is perched on a Turk's Cap.

The Tasmanian Blacks that I tried black had a somewhat grassy jalapeno taste, with a heat level on par with a good warmer jalapeno, I would guess about 5,000 Scoville. Red they are really nice, kind of like a red jalapeno but thinner fleshed and not as sweet. I'll grow these again next year for sure!

Here's one of my Ghost peppers that looks like it's going through a Rastafarian stage (green, yellow, and red).
