You could root the branches off of the broken one. If there are any that
terminate in a flower cluster, cut that tip off. They will likely grow whole new plants and set fruit before your seedlings.

Thanks. Had not considered doing that. I have several tips that have flower clusters. Going to give that a go this afternoon. |

I have grown cuttings taken in fall from summer determinates over the
winter, planted them in the spring, and had them produce a new determinate plant that second summer. The cuttings were grown beside a window under flourescent lights, and they had not produced very large plants by spring, maybe 18 inches. There had been some flowering and even one fruit produced in the winter, but there were no terminal flower clusters when I planted them into the garden in spring. The plants grown from the cuttings the next summer turned out to be a normal determinate plant the same size as the plants that the cuttings were originally taken from.
