I grow them, I pick them. I have no gloves and mask. I dont burn for days on end. I like cooking with them. I dont favor eating them raw unless added in diced form to something like chili or stews...
I like to make them into pepper flakes just them. my most most most favorite is the pepper flakes that have been mixed with every variety of pepper I grow ranging from jalapeno, ghost, TS, serrano, cayennne, habanero is what I did this year... I did add them to my picante sauces and then put a whole one in the jar prior to canning. I didnt enjoy them as much as I wanted though but my friend loved the jars I gave him. I have always enjoyed hot stuff...still do...I hope that when I get older, I will still be able to enjoy them. |

OK...call me a whimp but see that little sliver of pepper?? It burned and affected my mouth for about an hour and a half!!
The usual burning of course, then my lip went numb!! Started drooling like I just went to the dentist! lol Heat in my mouth and a sweaty forehead for a good hour!! lol Everyone had a good laugh! Now, I did chew on it for a bit so it soaked in. Have grown Bhut Jalokia too. Can't tell the difference in heat of course but when cleaned properly, the BJ did have a nice fruity flavor to it! Along with hell-ish like heat! Greg |
