oh man, they have arrived.
EDIT: I tried just a dabble of some dried flesh that was stuck to a seed. wow, just wow is all I can say. There is no way that I would ever pop an entire piece of this lava into my mouth. Unless Miss Sprint Cup Monica Palumbo or Paige Duke asked me to do that and then she would marry me after, then I would. Last edited by matermaniac; April 4, 2010 at 04:10 PM. |

My Mam is moving to Bangladesh in July and I will be going out to visit some time next year. I will make sure to collect whatever peppers I can from the local markets.
Seemingly in Bangladesh they don't even break the pepper open when cooking, they jsut drop a whole Naga into the pot while it's simmering and later remove it whole and reuse. |

The baby bhuts have yet to hatch. I keep looking for any sign of a little white tail so much that it's become an obsession.
EDIT (4/18/2010) I came home from work today to find one of five seeds pushing up through the dirt. I'm hoping the rest aren't far behind. (4/19/10) Two more are pushing up dirt as of this evening. Last edited by matermaniac; April 19, 2010 at 10:52 PM. |

Had my first few slivers of Bhut Beaut a few days ago, and wham(!)...what an impact!
How any human (or cyborg for that matter) can eat one of these puppies in a bowl of food is beyond me, but I now have five or six plants all giving me pods. Hopefully more will ripen before the cold arrives in full force, but I have three beauties to cherish for now... |

I have about 12 or so little Bhut seedlings that are doing very good. They germinated in about a week and a half. Very healthy looking.

My Bhut's are not in the garden yet, but 2 plants have small flowers. The
flowers are open, but very, very small compared to my other peppers. Do Bhut's have very small flowers? Huntsman, that was brave to even taste a few slivers. I'm not going to even try that. |

Just checked the BJs, roper -
I have only one flower at present and it is rather small to my eye.... Anyone else notice this? You have to give them a try, roper, or it will always bother you. Just remember to glove up before cutting them is my well earned advice, and nitrile gloves are superior to latex in this instance... |

Yeah, there are certainly some serious peppers out there...!
I have just harvested some yellow 7 pots, but I'm just easing my way in. I still really enjoy Jalapenos, cayenne and medusa, which are fairly mild... |

ok,
so how slow are bhut jolokias to grow? All 5 seeds planted have germinated within two weeks of being sown. So that leaves them at about a month old now. They aren't but about 2-3inches tall. They are outside with 4-6 hours of sun and soon to be moved to get 6-8 hours of sun. They are in a mix of miracle gro and mushroom compost. For that matter,my jalapenos and pablanos are slow as well. Everything else (cayenne, bolivian rainbow, white habanero, cascabel and Tabasco) is chugging along and getting faster as the days stay more in the upper 80's here. Is it normal or do I need to change what I am doing? Should I repot and add bonemeal? I've read that it is good for peppers. |
