12/12 should be fine. Talking with Tom seems a smaller container seems to promote tuberization instead of plant growth. I start them in 72 cell trays and put to 12/12 when 2" tall.

Now that you said it ...I remember Tom saying that some TPS plans were tuberizing because they stay too long in a small pot.

Phew I had them in a five gallon pots very crowded thou 4 plants to 6... I think then I should go back to 1 gal pots, I can fit more plants of others that are already with 1/2 in sprouts

Sorry to hear about you computer.

Update about Moie-Moie. About a week ago I started to notice the pull plants limp and laying like when they are dying down but then I saw little fruit fly? around the soil surface. I panicked! I have no idea where they come from so... I took the top 2 inches of promix and through it away. But in the process I spotted one tuber about golf size, I do hope there is more down there!!!! but I do not want to mess around and break the stolons. Anyway I replaced the soil with soiless media for seedstarting crossing fingers that the fruit flies don't come back.... Also did the same for Richard's Mystery selection...

Are you going to replant them outside or are you just going to keep them in pots

Wendy those are probably fungus knats. You will want to harvest the tubers so they have time enough to break dormancy for spring planting. I have just been letting the pot dry out, cutting off the plant, and putting pot into storage.

interesting... it did appear as I brought a pot into the room to sow some lettuce. Darn knats got inside the room! I stopped watering last week since I saw them laying I though they were drying down already...I want the plan to die down and take the tubers out...probably in 2 weeks should have more info and pictures of the harvest. I need to "sterilize" before they invade my peppers and onion seedlings.

Default Done!

Well to all of you following my hurdles trying to grow Moie-Moie from that slip ...this is how it looked last week after the fungus knats decided to attack it. The top layer is 2" of soiless media to make a barrier for the gnats (I does work)

Leason learned no outside pots, plants without sterilizing!

I let it die completely and today was bone dry so I took the plunge and harvest the pot. And look what I got!

Nice looking tubers. Is there enough time for them to sprout before you plant them outside?

I went over the signups for tubers these are the slots assigned. Now I need people to PM their addresses and respond to this thread that you understand the possibility of spreading virus or disease to your other potatoes or crops and that you fully take responsability if it happens after you choose to accept this tuber. This is regarding post #5 that says the following:
Quote:
"I must add that people that sign for this task should be aware of the possible presence of patogens in any live tissue. Richard (Medbury Gardens) was kind enough to offer to introduce this Maori potato into USA via me. I am growing it separated from the rest until I get my own seed. I believe this disclaimer is needed and neither me or Medbury Gardens should be held responsable in the case that a virus or disease spread to your other potatoes or crops. If you choose to grow it and agree with the previous statement then I am gladly send you a slip or tuber in the fall. "
Once I get both your mailing address and response I can cross your name from the list.
