Tatiana's Tomato Farm - June 2009 pictures

Dear friends,

I finally managed to upload a few pictures from my hobby tomato farm - these were taken on May 31 and June 6.

We have had such a beautiful weather here in Vancouver Canada that everything has been growing really well this season (so far - I am keeping my fingers crossed

)

I will be posting some of these pictures at Tatiana's TOMATObase in the next couple of weeks, as I should now have a bit more time once the garden is fully planted and soaker hoses are in place and fully operational

Some ripe fruits are on SunSugar F1, Yaponskiy Karlik, Gold Nugget, and Chibikko - and of course on my very own Anmore Treasures and Anmore Dewdrop plants - it is now getting very exciting. 6 cukes harvested so far from the large greenhouse we built last year.

Tania, I was going to say you must be having some excellent weather as those plants are really looking good. My Serenity F3 and Sweet Dreams F3 are looking good as I pulled the plastic tubes off of them today. Ami

Tania, everything looks really great. And I agree with Ami, your weather must be really cooperating with you and your plants. How many varieties are you growing this year and roughly how big is your plot?

Tania, you can be so happy to have the first fresh tomatoes! I still will have to wait some time, but your Kimberly is doing fine and they will be the first to be ripe (those of the greenish seeds). Good luck for the season!

Interesting, Clara, I just came in from another hornworm patrol, and while I was out, I noticed that my Kimberly is showing some color on one tom.

Tania, it looks like you're going to have a heavy canning schedule this year.

Wow - that was a lot of very nice and encouraging comments and feedback folks - thank you! You certainly know how to make a fellow gardener happy and proud about their little gardening paradise

My garden area is slightly smaller than 1/2 acre, and I am growing 166 varieties of tomatoes this year. Not all of them were photographed yet. If the weather stays good, we may be swimming in tomatoes this year - I am keeping my fingers crossed, as I'd love to be very busy squeezing the seeds out of ripe maters during the seed saving time. That would mean lots of ketchup (as a by-product of seed saving), I'd hope.

The last two years were really bad for me, with massive crop failures before I even got a ripe fruit from many varieties. So it got to be a better year!!!
