Default The Geese Have Spoken

Went down to the city today to mail some seeds to Tvillans I had promised and when I pulled into the city parking lot I saw a few people looking up at the sky. After getting out of my car I looked up to see what they were looking at. After A few moments I spotted what had gotten the peoples interest, a flight of geese flying south. Kind of befitting as we had our first frost this morning.
After getting home from work I went in the yard to pick my Asian Pears off the remaining tree as we were forecasted for more freezing weather tonight. As I was picking the pears I heard a familiar sound comming from the north. Another flight of geese headed south. Half hour later the sound reappeared and another flight appeared and disappeared to the south. We are on a Western European Flyway and see this wonderful site each year. And their saying time to head south as winter is-a-commin. Ami

The geese spend the winter and summer here and usually only fly out to surrounding fields to eat or plunder grain.

Great Pixs, Ami. I'll let you know when they arrive here.

Yep the Canadian Geese seem to have forgotten the southern flight route and just hangout in N Va all winter. Atleast the red foxes have returned to feast on the large flock that has been doubling of the past few years.
