What are the odds?
Every now and then we come across something that makes you think.
Today that something happened to me. Sometimes you read, see on TV, or hear about, a plane crash, an island that has a seed from a bird land and sprout or just some strange thing that changes all of our lives or has made us what we are today. I doubt with this happening, much will come out of it but I have to ask, what are the odds? With the picture below you will see what I mean and ask yourself the same thing. If my blood were green and my ears were pointed, I'd probably be able to come up with something...

“----or just some strange thing that changes all of our lives or has made us what we are today.” What are the odds?
This is the most significant post in the entire TVille Forum, as far as I am concerned. Indeed, many events such as this have changed your personal life, world history, religions, wars, --------------. As humans, we all conduct our life based on our perception of our realities and experiences. Unfortunately, we do not have the understanding that we have severe limitations with our innate inability to perceive things.
One goldfish says to the other goldfish in the tank,” There must be god, otherwise who changes the water every week?” And that’s fine, except when you try to count how many people have been killed because of religion. What are the odds? That’s truly an amazing picture taken by Worth. Here is the answer. The odds are 100% identical to any other events. Ask any mathematician. It’s no more meaningful, no less meaningful than any other event in your life. Going to check " the color of my blood" now. LOL dcarch

What are the odds the universe has imploded on itself at least 6 times in order to have water on earth today. 2 miles closer to the sun and we are baked, 2 miles further from the sun and we are ice cubes!! 93 million miles from the earth to the sun and 2 miles either way and we don't exist. what are the odds?

The Earth's orbit is not circular, it varies over time (changes from nearly circular to more elliptical...on about 100,000 yr cycle). Even at its most circular, the distance changes from 91 million miles at its closest to 95 million at its farthest points. During the most elliptical phase, those distances vary (something like 89-90 and 97). The Earth has enough of a 'wobble' to it that 2 miles is absolutely of no consequence...

Yeah, that makes more sense. Maybe it was 2 miles and then the earth would either crash into the sun or fly out of orbit, I remember my physics prof saying something about 2 miles mattering?? but that was 20 years ago. Thanks for the info,,astro physics and space exploration amaze me, how do they they figure this stuff out?? |

No we don’t have ants like that much here anymore, the fire ants took over and they don’t carry leaves.
It is a leaf from the cedar elm tree that I have all over the place. It’s a nasty tree that grows abundantly here with little leaves. The good thing about these leaves is they decompose right in the yard and they help build the soil. The limbs from these trees are constantly shedding, the yard is picked up now but when I get home I will have a pile more the pick up and burn. Worth |

Thats right but no worries I use the ashes in the yard or garden or I use the sticks to get the fireplace or BBQ started.
