Default Backyard tomato update

After getting hit with a hail storm that defoliated my unprotected plants things are getting back to normal and the damaged plants are starting to recover. As the plants on my fence line had a fleece covering on all the plants their damage was minimal. Right now the PL's are thriving with Amazon Chocolate and my two Purple Haze plants are pushing 4 feet. Here's some pictures. Ami

Nice plants and a good looking yard! I always love trees too. In my part of Texas if you have no trees your soil needs a good bit of water to maintain grasses.

I am curious why you use containers when you seem to have plenty space to plant inground? I am sure you have your reasons and everyone has a preference, but I thought I'd ask.

Is it because you plant along the fence line and you don't want to disturb the soil there?

Regards, Walter

Looks great, Ami. Hope you enjoy the Purple Haze. Just wish I could get some original F1 seeds again....

I assume you've got Tomaten Dunger on all of them?

Walter, my house and yard sit on sandstone about a foot below the surface. Thats why I planted the trees near the slope rather than where they terraced the yard. So rather than build raised beds I decided to go the container route where I have more control over what aggregates I use plus amendments. I do have a surrogate garden at work that is a raised bed because the site is built on sandstone as well.
The fence line provides a convenient place to secure my containers and cages plus they catch the sun for most of the day. Ami
