Default Problems applying Daconil

I'm having problems with spraying Daconil . The liquid is very thick and is very difficult to spray. On top of that the bottle only allows to dispense a directed spray from 1 hole opening. This seems like a very ineffective way of covering my plants. Does anyone have any tips of effective way of covering the plant with this stuff. This was a premixed, ready to apply solution. I also bought a concentrate of of Daconil from Amazon. I expect to have the same problems after dilution. Any tips for the concentrate as well?

Thank you.
Maya.

I use a gallon sprayer (the big bottle with the pump handle), and the diluted concentrate sprays fine. You can adjust the nozzle to widen the spray pattern, too. Since the ratio of concentrate to water is about 1 tablespoon daconil to 1 gallon of water, the liquid is not at all thick. Hope this helps.

A lot of premixed stuff comes with loads of thickener and fillers so you're forced to use more of the product than you actually need. (little off-topic, but shampoos have this problem, too.)

The concentrate is as whistler said. You get to pick your own sprayer when you use it, as it doesn't come with its own spraybottle. I use an overpriced piece of crap from Ace that swoons and reaches for the smelling salts whenever it's trying to pump anything thicker than ether for my Daconil, and it works fine.

My very first experience with Daconil was with the premixed stuff as well. It just flat out wouldnt work as the OP mentioned. Never had any problem with the concentrate

Use a "Hudson Sprayer" for the mixed concentrate. I bought one at Menards (big box home improvement store) for $12.

As others said above, you won't have the same problems with the concentrate that you had with the pre-mixed. The diluted concentrate is not as thick and gloppy and hard to apply as the pre-mixed is.

One thing I do with the concentrate when filling the sprayer is to strain the concentrate through a fine mesh such as one of the tulle bags that I use for bagging blossoms. It seems that there are always just a few flakes or clumps of concentrate that don't break up and will clog the sprayer nozzle if they aren't filtered out.

I had a similar question about a month ago.........Daconil in a concentrate is recommended to be used within 2 years. It does sound like you got an older shelf "ready mix" that was older

Thanks, everyone. I used concentrate with a pump sprayer and did not have any problems. The stuff that was premixed was very thick, even the pump was having problems with it.

Glad to hear that you were successful, Maya.

I noticed most of the big retail chains are selling the pre-mixed ready to use spray bottles and not the concentrate this year. I'm guessing that there's a lot more money to be made by selling the pre-mix, which forces consumers to purchase many bottles of it if they have a large garden.

The bottles of concentrate also settle over time but it's easy to shake them well right before measuring out a tablespoon to mix with water when you're ready to spray your plants.

but also with happiness in your hearts

at the remembrance of my long happy life with you:

No matter how deep my sleep I shall hear you,

and not all the power of death

can keep my spirit

from wagging a grateful tail.
