Default Hillbilly pics

My first one blushed while still fairly small. As I understand, these are supposed to be 1 - 2lb fruit. This one was just slightly larger than the vine ripened ones you get at the grocery store.

Verdict on this is that it is a very mild tomato as far as zing goes. The seeds and gel were slightly tart but the rest of the tomato is pretty smooth...texture AND taste wise. This being the first off the plant, I am not going to make any decisions as to it's return to the garden or not yet. We shall see. I think that this one wouldn't make it on a sandwich though...it is that mild that you would lose the tomato flavour if it had to compete with much else.

It is hard to judge the first few that ripen. Last year the first few black plums were spitters and then the taste improved. I have two Hillbilly plants and have had a few smaller toms like you show.
Hang in there, things may get better.

that cracking on the top is quite common in many varieties of tomatoes. My Paul Robesons do that as well. Nothing wrong with the tomato at all.
