odd colored butternut squash
i have 1 full sized butternut squash fruit (about 6-7 pounds) that is dark green - the color of zucchini with lighter and darker green mottling. i assume this crossed with either a yellow squash or cuke or delicata squash all growing nearby.
will it taste and store like a mature butternut or is it more like a yellow or green summer squash shaped like a butternut as that it won't store and does not have orange colored flesh and needs to be eaten soon after cutting off the vine? tom
