Default Itchi-worms invasion!

After the crazy rainy season here started, may creepy crawlers appeared that cased devastation on my crops.. most of them are moth and butterfly larvaes..

here are a few of the culprits..












does anybody know the names of this pests and are they butterfly or moth larvae?

Second photo is a tomato hornworm, I think, but I am not an expert on pests at all.

Make sure you do not touch or come in skin contact with that first one a lot of the hairy Caterpillars in the Philippines that look like that have hairs that are needle sharp and the hairs contain a venom. Probably would not kill you but can cause large painful red whelps.

anytime permanent disfigurement is mentioned with the symptoms list it can't be a good thing in my book.

yup. those critters will cause you allergic skin reactions. been a victim of it several times. and I have to drench myself with vinegar to ease the itch that made me smell like paksiw(http://www.ehow.com/how_4555869_cook-fish-paksiw.html)

I feel bad eradicating those insects because I know they will become pollinators... but they are doing heavy damage to my crops...

the 2nd is not a thw. they all look like butterfly cats. 3 of them i recognize but no time to look up which butterfly.

You sure do have a lot of creepy crawlers! They are neat looking. I have no clue what any of them will turn out to be.

#4 cat is freaking 5" long!


i think this is #2 now... I wish I can take a shot of it coming out of the cocoon.
