Not a good year for my Surrogate Garden
This is what I harvested from my surrogate garden at work and the only place I grow maters in the soil. Even though the plants were decimated by a hail storm and I had to replant I still got some fruit and the plants are still loaded with greenies. The following numbers correspond with the variety. Again no loss of plants due to disease! Ami
1. Blue Ridge Black 2. Dana's Dusky Rose 3. Monster Tomato (I don't know where they got the Monster part.) 4. Lilian Maciejewski's Poland Pink 6. Maria Amazilitels Giant Red

What did you think of Dana's Dusky Rose? I must say I was a bit disappointed,
the first fruits was pretty tasteless and mealy, and while both taste and texture did improve over the season, I don't think I will be growing it next year. However, It was a very unusual season, so I did save seeds to grow in the future. Maybe it will do better outside the greenhouse? |

Yes, Ami, it was a bad tomato year in Germany, this year. Nearly all those to whom I had given my additional seedlings complain about the poor quantity of ripe fruits and they have lots of greenies, too. Only the cherries have a quite normal production.
Let's hope for a "Golden October"! clara |
