What on earth is this???
This isn't really "tomato pest related" (at least I don't think so), but my friend found this in her bean bed today and no one seems to have any idea what sort of critter this might have been/become. She said it's an empty pupa case. Can anyone identify it?

I saw one of those on Star Trek the other day. Sorry, I forgot which planet it came from and its proper name.

How big is it? A ruler or a small coin next to it for scale helps.

My friend says it's 1.5" long x 3/8" wide.
