There's a variety named Fooled You that supposedly has the jalapeno flavor without the heat.

Never heard of Tam II, just googled it and it sounds good. Don't know who
sells it though.

yes agreed.............tim76.... I couldnt eat the ones I bought from a local nursery........... which jalapeno did you plant? I've been told if the plant becomes stressed it can produce higher heat levels...... which we both dont want.....

Brengolio - I was in Walmart a couple of days ago and the Ferry Morse seeds were on sale. Among them was Tam Jalapeno for 75 cents a packet.

Our jalapenos are disappointingly mild this year. Like no heat at all. Source was Sandhill from several years back.

Ruth,

I'm growing an extremely tasty, hot jalapeno this year called Guachinango. It was my earliest jalapeno as well. Got seeds from Nature's Crossroads: http://www.naturescrossroads.com/Pro...Code=1316523-A

Brengolio......I tried several jalapenos this year looking for a mild version.....Jalapeno M was very small and still seemed very hot....Chichimeca was a large pepper and somewhat milder than any others. It is a hybrid and I think I ordered it from Tomato Growers. Beautiful robust plant and loaded with peppers. Do you wait until the peppers have started getting the brown lines on them to pick them? I may be waiting too late to pick them, I don't know.....just learning about peppers.

Jalapeno M is hot.

O.PMater, you can pick them when the have the brown lines(corking),
or even when they turn red. Some jalapeno's have no corking. In
Mexico the ones with corking are more desired.
