Pretty much all of the bells are from the Islander dehybridization project....they are really productive and coming along well.
Michael, you can see most of the NuMex varieties we shared in the video - I really love the Sunrise/Sunset/Twilight mix - and somehow (told you it was my lucky year), I planted three plants and got one of each! Pinata is really excellent too...and those Big Jims are nearly ready to pick!

Yes, the sad demise of some of the tomatoes as they pass into the crispy state. Gotta get out there and pull those plants within the next few days (my discipline doing such things is never very good - but looking at them is depressing!)

Craig-Glad that your NuMex varieties are doing good. The video shows them ready to pick-they do not have to turn red to be ripe. In fact, most of the green chile that is picked in the Mesilla Valley and Hatch is green. The red is used to dry a lot.

WOW! You have fully convinced me to grow all of my peppers in containers next year!
What size grow bags are you using and what supplier do you get them from?

Wow! you sure do have a plethora of beautiful peppers! I'm also envious of the many different kinds of peppers you're growing. This year I started to grow my hot peppers in pots and also in the ground as I wanted to keep a few of the bhut jolokia for another year.
I like many of the NuMex peppers, but am just starting with a few as I have no more room!! Thanks for sharing the pepper video with all of us. Quite a lot of work! |

It's just part of the driveway lab! The small pots of colorful hot peppers all come from two small peppers that found my way from plants in arboretums to my pockets....clearly hybrids, and the bees have been working on them in my yard as well - so from those 2, I have 120 or so small pots....there is a plan - working to stabilize the most attractive (hard to choose, they are all quite beautiful!).

Beautiful peppers! Would love to see a video tour of your eggplants as well.
What do you use for your grow bag mix? |

Craig, do you ever make seed offers on your oranamental peppers? Those are some really pretty plants, as well as all your others too!
Was also wondering, what in the world do you do with all those peppers? Seems unlikely anyone could ever eat that many!

So, what do we do with all of those pepper! The bells are part of an evaluation/stabilization project, hence so many....we chop and freeze, give away, cook with them - also just started dehydrating them and grinding to make home made paprika.
As far as the small pot ornamental peppers, I do occasionally share samples - watch for an upcoming seed share (after things quiet down). As for what I use - easy - mix of a 2.5 cu ft bag of Miracle Gro potting mix (not soil), and one 25 lb bag of Moo Nure. Feed with the diluted "blue stuff" every two weeks.
