Moose do my pruning
Three moose in the back yard this morning. This one is having a snack on the kiwi vine. Currants severely pruned also.

Great pics!!! Looks like the Moose is being stood up at the altar
I hope that they leave your plants alone after this pruning! Cheers |

Nicky -- Thanks. Yes, I think they will have done enough damage today. It never seems to hurt the currants, which they eat every year, but their work on the kiwi will leave me dead spots up at the top of the arbor which will be difficult to remove. I feel bad for them though, since it's been as cold as minus 25° here in the past few days and they must be hungry.

Great pics Sherry!
My sibs were up "north" in the Muskoka area at our family place at the lake over the weekend....and woke up to a Moose family feasting on the crabapple or cherry tree outside the house. Papa, mama and twin babies. They must have been hungry like yours, since its been -15 to -25F for the past few days up there....unfortunately when they strip that tree, they usually end up killing it. That's the fourth tree in 5.5 years that's been planted in that position....all in memory of first my Mom and now also my Dad. Hopefully this one survives. I'm not sure which variety is the current tree, since I didn't do the replanting this last time. Oh well....I think Mom and Dad would probably chuckle that their tree was providing a feast for the local wildlife. Zana |

I know Alaska rules are strict, but this kinda activity demands that we make a large helping of "Mooseburger" and fries.

We had some visitors as well, but my pictures are not as clear. Today there were four deer, pruning the Weigela...

i thought kiwi were grown in warm climates like zone 7 or 8?
what's all that white stuff on the ground? oh that's right you are lucky enough to actually live where there is a winter not like around here in the subtropical climate of connecticut. at the rate things are going the wood in the woodshed that is just for a year will last 2 maybe 3 years. and my snowblower, well i might as well buy a surf board. not there's any ocean around here but there's about as much use for a snowblower as a surf board. now last winter that was a winter! tom
