Feedback on Lemon Cucumber
My wife keeps gaining interest in veggie gardening. That good and that's bad. She keeps coming home with seeds for things she wants ME to try...
Anyway... I wanted to get some feedback on Lemon Cucumbers that doesn't just read from the seed packet.. Thanks in advance,

Are you talking about the little round yellow ones.
If so I like them many people here dont seem to. I had one put out in a shady area. Worth |

They're OK if they don't get too large. Most of the plants I've seen in the community garden produced way more than they harvested on a regular basis. IMHO, not a good pickler.

I take it then that the skins aren't bitter. That's a big plus...

I still have plenty of pickles from a couple of years ago. (each year we focus on canning just one ... Tomato items one year, pickles another). All considerations of texture aside... I would think they would make pickles that look like they came from over ripe fruit. IMHO, that's not appealing. I've had some folks bread and butter made from a mix of green and yellowed cukes. Mushy mix is what I thought of them!

I'd say only good for fresh eating, and only if picked no larger than .....................................a lemon!

My wife and several people I know love them. I don't like them because they grow wide not long and seem to be very full of seeds whenever I eat them. Cute though.

The skin isn't bitter and the taste is good but, yes, there are a lot of seeds.

I'd agree with the comments made. They have a sweet flavor and sell well at the market fresh. Picked too late, when they've begun to russet, and they will be soft. I quarter them and they make fine sweet/hot pickles.

they are more heat resistant and drought tolerant than most of their longer green cousins.

Thanks for all the feedback everyone. These actually sound like a winner and I am looking forward to trying them.

Lemon Cucumbers are fine, but I think Poona Kheera are even better. For one thing you get a full sized cuke instead of one the size of a baseball, and for two they were more productive for me.
Looking forward to pictures!
