My "extra" garden
I am just so excited to be growing in the ground. And the nice man seems to have done a terrific job preparing it for me with all the compost and tilling, because I sure have some happy tomatoes.
The close-up is Indian Stripe PL I think - that sure is a pretty sight.

Lovely!
I put in two gardens this weekend. One was an edible garden at an elementary school and another was a flower garden in around our town clock tower. |

What a great garden space! I hope you get lots and lots of tomatoes.
What are you using for stakes? lol .... they look like spears to my poor eyes

Thanks all. This nice man never met before - he just did all that out of kindness. That and he is curious to try heirloom tomatoes. Those two monsters in the back are his, and I tend them. An early girl and a sweet 100. He bought huge ones, and they already have a bunch of fruit set. I will certainly try to turn him into a friend, he seems like the type of friend I'd like to have. Fresh strawberry pies are in his near future
It's every year for many here, but after my years of struggling with pots and insufficient sun, to have a wonderful sunny fertile plot of land just has me so excited, and grateful. The stakes are just old metal T-posts. I am doing a Florida weave.

Tracy, I struggle with sun issues myself which is why I have 4 separate garden plots because I just don't get enough sun for one large area, so I feel your pain.
There are only 2 "farms" left in my town, and the whole area is mostly a state forest here, so even folks who have houses have smaller plots. My yard is considered big at 1/3 acre, but it's different levels, lots of rocks and boulders which makes gardening difficult, so I can just imagine how wonderful it must be to have that lovely plot to use!
