Green Lantern Lights
Here is another one of Tom Wagners creations, released last year. According to what I've read this one was a fairly early generation with lots of possibilities. I'm not sure if this is a later generation or the original seeds from Tom, as I got it in a trade. It is a pretty one and I'll probably pick the ripening one tomorrow or the next day to see how they taste.

Those look very good, have to give us a report as to taste. It sounds like you grow a lot of his varieties, how do you like the blues? those are very interesting to me.

I haven't gotten a fully ripe blue one to report on yet, my guess is that I'm a few weeks away from having more than a token early fruit or two.
I tend to be drawn towards the unusual and colorful, which describes a lot of Tom's work. |

Mark, I do hope the taste is good - I have seeds of Green Lantern's Lights for next year. I understand that they are still segregating, but hope springs eternal. If I remember correctly, The Future in Bermuda grew them and found them very good tasting.

I've just got 4 plants of this one growing, it was a last minute addition. Strangely enough it is the first of the larger fruited varieties to be ripening, even though it was started several weeks later than the bulk of my plants.
We'll see what I have, Tom posted that what he sent out was F2 seed, so I think the best I could hope for is F3. I know The Future had identified both a yellow fleshed and a green fleshed line in their grow out That first ripening fruit is irregularly shaped and the section under the top fruit is still hard and green. I may end up picking it and slicing off the ripe side because I'm desperate for something bigger than a cherry tomato. I'm to the stage of finding one ripe cherry tomato a day, which never makes it out of the garden... |

The taste was excellent, however with my wife and daughter standing by for a slice (the boys don't like tomatoes!) I didn't get a picture. It was sweet with a backbone of acidity that I really liked, however this was the first slicer of the season so I don't have much to compare it too.
It was extremely pretty, golden skin with green and some red striping, green fleshed with faint red marbling throughout. If the heat breaks Friday evening like it's supposed to I'll be bagging the plant and hitting it with the greenhouse pollinator until the next few trusses set fruit for seed. |

I have 2 GLL plants this year. The first is producing small orange cherries with some faint red marbling. The other one is producing a medium size fruit that is slightly elongated like Green Zebra except that it has a few red stripes also. Or maybe I should say I had 2 plants. Disease has fairly decimated them.

I got one that put out small/medium sized heart shaped fruits with a bit of red streaking in the flesh under the green striped skin. Is that what yours looks like Steve?
