Stripedy tomatoes!
None are ripe... yet. They are taunting me, I swear. But here are some of the stripeys that I have in my garden this year, in their unripe state. I just LOVE stripey tomatoes! I'm growing a lot of Wild Boar Farms fruit this year, as you can see...
In the photos, there's Black & Brown Boar, Blonde Boar, Chocolate Lightning (Dwarf Tomato Project), Green Zebra Cherry, Pink Berkeley Tie-Dye, and Red Boar. Ripen, ripen, ripen! |

I have Pink Boar, B&B Boar, BTD and Pink BTD ! I agree, even green they look so cool. Yours have darker coloring than mine, mine are a bit paler. Wonder if it is weather related.

I don't know! Mine are all really buried deep inside the plants and aren't getting much sun directly on the maters.
I picked a blonde boar and a green zebra cherry today! I'm not entirely sure either is ripe all the way. It's an experiment! All are new to me this year except B&B Boar. I'm a little disappointed in the Pink BTD's yield. The plant has been in the ground for 75+ days. There are only 5 tomatoes on it. They are really large tomatoes... but still green. Sigh. Lots of blossoms, but they keep dropping off. It's in the mid-90s here and we have the "Washoe Zephyr" strong winds every afternoon and evening. How is your Pink BTD doing? |

Robin,
Your Blonde Boars have much darker and more well defined stripes than mine. They all look just beautiful! Hope they taste just as good! |

Those do look cool. And I love the phrase "stripedy tomatoes".

Blonde Boar
The bottom most cluster of Blonde Boars are turning yellow! I picked the largest one last night because it is getting soft and developing a crack at the stem end, but the stripes are still green. I'm going let this one sit for a few days before cutting it, and will probably wait longer to pick the rest and see if the green stripes disappear... There aren't a lot of good photos out there of this one (that I can find.) The one I picked is by far the largest one on the plant. It weighs 4.5 oz and is almost 3" across. Somehow I pictured them smaller...description says 2-4oz, so I guess this is just at the upper end. Others in the cluster are turning and are quite a bit smaller.

Well, when I planted out, the Pink Boar and BTD were two of the last to go in the ground. Got leggy and the Pink BTD fell over and started growing weird, so I buried a lot of the stem when I planted. BTD just got buried deep. For the longest time, the Pink BTD was the clear winner...bigger faster growing plant, more flowers. NOW....since the heat wave hit, BTD has gone gangbusters. It is now twice the size of the pink, twice as many fruits, and much larger fruits. My pink BTD is just sort of hanging out there. lol The BTD has several fused fruits that are quite large, I'd estimate 8 oz or more so I'm really looking forward to slicing those babies right up! Blonde Boar looks cool. Let us know how it tastes!

Well, theoretically Pink BTD is supposed to be more "compact" in size. It does seem a tad smaller than some in my garden, but Red Boar isn't really very large yet either. I didn't grow BTD because I usually can't get away with 80 day tomatoes here in Reno. Pink BTD is supposed to be earlier. This year, however, I probably could have pulled it off. I just looked this evening and there are two more Pink BTDs starting at the top of the plant...
