lyubimyĭ prazdnik favorite holiday
Photos of a big Russian commercial variety heart known as lyubimyĭ prazdnik
which roughly translates to "favorite holiday" in English. It is open pollinated. I ate my first ripe one today. I liked it, it was more sweet and had a wonderful zip at the end. Quite juicy, too. Here are photos of some green ones and then the ripe red one I ate today. It is quite cold tolerant. I put it in around April 12th or so and it survived temps around 30 degrees, I believe. I need to look up exactly what the lows were back then. But I know there were some light frosts. |

I found it in Tatiana's Tomatobase
http://t.tatianastomatobase.com/wiki/Lyubimyi_Prazdnik I should weigh the other fruits when they ripen. They're BIG. This is a decent tomato. Very easy to grow, tolerates abuse and the cold, and tastes good. Much better than severtsnaya koroleyva, which I have too much of and which I don't really like. |
