Default World Tomatoes Seed Store

I have opened a small operation in the form of a store widget attached to the blog in my signature line. The payment system is Google Wallet but I also accept checks and money orders via mail. Just email to check for availability and let me know if you want me to hold something before you send anything through the mail. I am hoping to get some new varieties out. I know my prices are somewhat on the higher end but USPS first class shipping is included and there is no minimum order.

Hi, Scott I was clinking around on your blog, and I noticed you mad a cross between a cherry and a beef steak, the fruit of which are quite unique. I was wondering if you're planning on offering seed for Gimli, as I would be interested in attempting a small grow out next year.

I wasn't planning on it but I certainly can. I just didn't anticipate any interest in a non-stabilized variety. Would you like seeds from the smooth or the ruffled? I may still have some earlier generations as well although it may be only a few seeds. If you are looking for variation, I would expect earlier seed as preferable since Gimli and Ruffled Gimli seem to have grown true since last year and this will be the third year in a row Gimli has looked essentially the same. Thanks for you interest, it is a variety near and dear to my heart as it is named after our French bulldog who, like the tomato, is small, round and cute. He is getting on in age and I am hoping he can hang on another few years to see his tomato stabilized. Here are a couple pics of Gimli in various forms, including F1 and F2.

I know this post is off-topic, but he is cute! One of my dogs is 1/4 French Bulldog and a friend has a pure-bred. I didn't know there were white ones.

Scott,

Great job on the photos and personalized descriptions - you obviously have "gotten to know" each tomato.

Best of luck with your blog/venture!

Scott,

I've Always had spot in my heart for the Frenchies, they're just so adorable.

As for Gimli, I would definitely be interested in growing out some of the ruffled variety. There's just something unique about smaller tomatoes that have beefsteak traits, for that very reason I was thinking about growing a similar Turkish variety,(specifically for the heat tolerance).

I hope your adorable four legged friend has many happy days ahead.

Gaston.

Cole, Gimli is never off topic in my book. I love the little guy. Although he is from a champion line, I often wish he was not purebred. He is a sweet soul packed into a defective body. I just hope the breed standard changes to allow them more of a snout in the future.

Steve, thanks for the compliments. I often spend the winter months researching the seeds I have, reading old articles about lesser known varieties, wondering what they will look like so when I finally get mature fruit it seems like Christmas.

Gaston, I will be sure to save some extra Ruffled Gimli when it ripens in a few weeks. The plant was in a waterlogged spot so it was set behind a bit after the wet spring.

Just thought I would add that I am now offering siling labuyo seeds on my site and as far as I can tell, it is the only commercial source for the real Filipino siling labuyo.

Neat. I was reading about them and found this blog. You should leave a comment.

You cannot imagine how many inquiries I field per month from folks who live abroad that want “real” labuyo seeds. So much so that I hope to find a good source

I missed this post somehow when it was first posted. It's a nice looking blog and I'll read through it in a while. I didn't realize how close I live to you. I'm out near Sylvan Beach.
