Split the banana peppers deseed and fill with cream cheese. Wrap a piece of bacon around the pepper and secure with a toothpick that holds the bacon on at the same time as it holds the pepper closed.
On the top shelf of your Bar B Q grill them until the shrinking bacon starts squeezing so tight it squeezes out the cream cheese on the burgers grilling below. Enjoy. PS This can be done with either the sweet banana peppers or the hot hungarian banana peppers But be sure that if you do both, you remember which are which!

Sorry Barry. I saw recipe and thought of eating.
For canning I never have a problem with extra peppers. I just dice em up and can equal parts tomato pepper and onion. Then when I actually get down to cooking something I use that base and adjust additional ingredients as needed. Makes it simple.

Barry,
There are quite a few sauces already in the Our Garden Cookbook : Sauces, Dressings and Condiments: http://www.tomatoville.com/showthread.php?t=22746 Easy Pickle Recipes: http://www.tomatoville.com/showthread.php?t=12759 Appetisers / Appetizers: http://www.tomatoville.com/showthread.php?t=22882 - some are for other types of peppers, but you could substitute the banana peppers Caribbean BBQ Sauce: http://www.tomatoville.com/showthread.php?t=19650 - you could substitute the banana peppers for the scotch bonnets to cut down on the heat (lol - and you could play with a combo of sweet and hot banana peppers if you've got both - adjust heat to your taste - the recipe as is for some serious heat. lol....but then again I enjoy "hotted-up" food. ) If you need more...I'll look for more in my collection...but will not be right now. Am still unpacking my books and other stuff. Zana |
