An ant nest in a tomato container
I walked outside this morning and noticed a young ant nest with hundred of ants and even more eggs in one of the tomato containers. I tried scooping it out. How should I best address this? Will the ants harm the tomato plant? Should I leave it alone?

Try some molasses. I'd mix up some in water and keep drenching the pot.
Here's an article on using molasses.. http://buymarijuanaseeds.com/communi...oodness.95401/ About 1/2 ways down the page look for... Molasses For Organic Pest Control |

Diatomaceous earth
You can get it many places. If you wan't a particularly strong version infused with Pyrethrins (African Daisy extract) try Fire Ant Killer

I am happy to recently learn that diatomaceous earth is an organic pest control medium for gardening. I used to use it as a filtering medium for aquariums. It is extremely fine, so I would suggest using those face protectors for breathing when dusting plants.
I have also used molasses in the garden to controls fire ants and it works. The principle is that the molasses stimulates the microorganisms in the soil and the microorganisms bother the ants so much that they will move.
