Nine pounds of blueberry were collected from six plants. The crop is later than last year, but about the same quality. The berries will be consumed fresh.

This is the first year of production. Six bushes, three Bluecrop and three Patriot were obtained as mature plants and placed in the garden in April 2011. The bushes are enclosed in a bird proof structure. Production per bush was (one lb 4 oz), (one lb 4 oz), (two lbs 8 oz), (one lb 8 oz), (one lb 8oz), and (two lbs) respectively. The total weight of the berries from he six plants was ten pounds.Some fruit was set aside for raw consumption and the remainder will be combined with gooseberry to make juice.

wild blue berries are just now turning ripe on our property. looks like it could be a good berry year. we have had a lot of rain. we pick as much as we can and freeze them for use through out the year. tame berries are also planted, but bushes are young, and not producing yet.

I keep killing my blueberry bushes due to neglect. I found a farm that is about 30 min away and I decided that it was better to just pick them there. I made several pints of blueberry vanilla bean jam that was very good. Glad you are having better than usual harvest this year.

We scouted wild blueberries in logging cuts in NW Ontario when we were up fishing a couple of weeks ago. The crop was just starting in and looked tremendous -- going back next Monday for a few days to fill up 8 or 10 buckets to freeze for the year. The cooler weather these last couple of weeks should have stalled ripening a bit, and we are hoping they will be at their peak. Berries have been poor the last couple of years, so it's about time for a bumper crop.
