FINALLY!!! A Plumeria flower!!!!
Only took 5 yrs!!! Well, some of which was my fault. Not giving it the proper food, light, winterizing it wrong...BUT with alot of food, sun all day, and a little love, I got it to flower!!
Was a stick about a foot long when I got it at Disney. It smells like nothing I've ever smelled before!! AMAZING!!! Greg |

pretty soon you'll have enough to make a lei!
you should visit some islands (like hawai'i) where when you get off the plane (and the wind is just right) you can smell plumeria as walk through the airport. its a beautiful thing. |

Absolutely lovely...so I guess there is hope for mine yet. I have been growing 2 of them for about 5 years now, and still nothing. But I started them from seed so I will stay patient for a couple more years, as it appears the wait is worth it

Sunny, I did all things wrong for years. Googled it, and found out they love a lot of sun, high nitrogen fert, and alot of water. Fed it a few times this summer, near the stone on the house for heat, but not up against it, and water 2-3 times a week.
The bloom set off THREE new branches that are shooting up leaves so I should have three branches next year. Gonna go smell it now!! lol Greg |

newathiskat, there is always a difference between the real smell of flowers and perfumes. I really want to try to find a plumeria perfume or candle to compare!! I seriously doubt they can do it! lol
You can smell it from a difference BUT when you stick your nose deep into it, it is soooo strong and sweet!! Second flower is just about done with the third opening probably tomorrow. Love that it's a couple blooms at a time instead of all at once! Greg |

I have a work mate that lives in Florida that grows these things in his yard.
When I found out they weren't frost hardy need full sun and like water I lost all interest. They are pretty though. Worth |

I'm growing one from seed and hoping for a bloom next year. So I have to ask, what method of overwintering did you settle on? I've seen so many different recommendations.
