Default In for 50 cents

Waited as long as I could. I think I see signs that planets are aligned
With fairily high lows forecast and overcast skies, I set out half of our seedlings today.

Good luck! When you can get them in early it is a risk...but pays back big time if the spring stays warm. Wish you the best!

Wow those plants really seemed like they were rearing to go into the ground! Good luck! Let's hope there's no more winter weather for us.

Tucking 'em in with some 1/2oz cover. (May have to double it up)

How are your tomatoes holding up, Decherdt? We're having one heck of a windy, stormy month! I hope your tomatoes are nice and cozy underneath those covered rows.

cheers!

So far so good, but I guess we'll find out on Tuesday. I saw where Creister said a frost was expected and I stopped planting yesterday (got compost & BlkKow dug in, hoping to get finished planting just ahead of this rain) . Switched gears to protect the ones already in the ground. Doubled up and tied down the half ounce cover on the oldest row (got some greenies in there) and pulled the cages of the newest two rows, covered with CRW and double half ounce DeWitt. It should be ok. Last year, most double covered plants survived down to 30 -ish.

Have seven grown backups and six half grown plus some pepers and cucumbers in the little bitty HFGH

Sounds like you're well prepared for the frost! That was a good plan to protect what you already had planted. I hope that the frost warning turns out to be a false alarm, we've had a tough winter and spring so far, I hope we can all put the bad weather behind us soon

This weather is crazy. Went out a little bit ago to mulch my cucumbers and nearly got too hot. They have now lowered the forecast next week to upper 30s one night and lower 40s two others and I am nearly in Florida. I planted out a full month later than normal this year because of the late freezes. I'm not too worried about the tomatoes but my beans are very susceptible to even the lightest frost. I have lost quite a few tomatoes in the last week due to the high winds and most of them were grafts but strangely none of them broke at the graft. I'm really not looking forward to near 100 degree temps so maybe it will remain a bit cooler than normal for a few more months and my air conditioning bill won't be so bad and I won't have to water as often.
