Asian Lady Beetles
Times like these i wish I had a better camera with a macro lens.
June 17th I happened to see these two doing the Hibidity Dibbity on one of the Bell peppers. June 19th Different plant in the same 'Tainer I saw these eggs and I almost removed them but remembered the pair from a few days before. June 21st Had kept a watch on them and got to see them hatch! This is in an area smaller than the nail of my little finger. They appeared to be eating the egg casings as most of the casings were gone the next day. Searching for them, they were spread out over the peppers in the same tub, looking for food. Hope they make it as I seem to have very few if any aphids this year. |

Linda,
It amazes me what is going on right under our noses! Looking for them yesterday, they appeared to have moved off the peppers completely. Found one on the cucumbers. I read that one larvae can eat as many as 400 aphids before becoming an adult and can then eat up to 50 aphids a day. No wonder they don't stick around too long! |
