Some of my 6a/b tomatoes that are coming in...
I live on the north shores of Lake Ontario (ok... a few blocks north and not ON the water itself) so we have an odd little micro climate here. My little tomato garden is cooking along with most having baby tomatoes on them. These ones were a little further ahead than the rest. Hopefully they uploaded according to my list. 1) Indigo Apple (note the blue on the sides), 2) Japanese Black Trifele with a megabloom guy in the middle, 3) My Scotias! They are kicking out the tomatoes all over so I am impressed! 4) Gregori'y Altai (note the strange leaves protruding from the middle of one), 5) 2 Pink Oxhearts fused together, 6) Sioux, 7) Stupice, 8) a RL Stupice cross. No idea of the parentage. There are lots more but these are the furthest ahead at the moment not counting Black Cherry which is also well on its way. Thanks for looking! Pete
PS: Can't wait to be eating them!

Cool pics Pete!
Do you prune to one or two main stems? I'm beginning to wish I had done that because I have a jungle out there . Linda |

Looking great Pete. It's always exciting when those first tomatoes start coming in.

Hi Linda and thanks.
I prune the indeterminates to 1-2 stems. Sometimes they trick me and its 3! Part of the reason I do it is that the fence and trees block out a lot of sun so I want them taller to reach more light. The other reason is that I had a fungus problem early on and want more air flow. I don't sucker the dwarves, determinates or the cherries. The exception is a couple of my black cherries that were in spots behind bleeding hearts. I had thought about cutting down the bleeding hearts but they are my wife's and divorce is expensive so I just suckered the thing to make it taller, lol! Pete

Rick and Tania;
Thanks for the kind words. In truth, if I had a tail I'd be wagging it, lol! Pete

Air flow is good! I don't need them to be taller, but I planted them a bit close.....
Good idea to keep on the right side of the wife and her Bleeding Hearts {LOL}. Linda |
