I'm glad to hear they are good. I planted them for the first time this year. They are looking pretty nice, but still very green.

Looking good! After I lost my first round of plants started from seed, I bought a German Johnson plant. I have been pleasantly surprised at the size and taste.

I grew one last year that was about half the size of a football! You'll get 2-4 sandwiches per tomato probably!

They are one of the best beefsteaks I have ever ate, I just don't think I can do any better for me than those. I think I may have to go eat one myself today. Yum!

German Johnson
The German Johnson has it roots in North Carolina, which claims to be the state of origin of this heirloom. It is also thought that the German Johnson is one of the parent plants of Mortgage Lifter. Here in North Carolina it is most famous for it's mild acidity and large size. It is the preferred tomato for making a tomato sandwich with Duke's Mayonnaise, another local favorite.
