Default finishing what I started

The last few years I have been making a lot of crosses but not finishing any. So I thought this year I would start stabilizing some of them. This is a f4 cross between a fatalii and a maui purple. There is a lot of variation but I am finding some cool stuff. I planted 30 plants and all of them are different.

There taste is excellent. More on the fruity side then the smokey side. they are not quite as hot as a habanero. The purple pepper in the sixth picture is what i'm looking for but I may say some of the others also.

Minn Mato, your peppers are gorgeous... I hope this summer's grow out went well.

Could you tell me, what is the optimum stage for emasculating a pepper flower? Should the petals be still green, or already white? Should the anthers be purple or does that mean it's too mature?

Yes, they all look cool! I would like to see faster ripening times, good yields, and nice looking. In that order. Breeding for those traits would make for some very useful peppers.

Although I do enjoy the traditions of heirlooms. As much or even more cultural use behind peppers than tomatoes. Interesting to read about the traditional dishes and such. Even more fun to try and make them.
