Tomato and pepper plants in North Carolina?
Is there a plant swap or someplace to buy a bunch of seedlings? I am not going to have time to do my own this year but want to plant a garden. Unfortunately, I've been working a ton of hours with a long commute. That should change in May or June but in the meantime, I need to get my garden going!

Tracy, Darrel Jones of Select Seeds is one of the best there is. Not only does he grow plants, but he has breed hundreds of them and knows them right down to their genes. His place is in Hamilton, Alabama which is fairly close to you. His website is here; http://www.selectedplants.com/. You could also PM “Fusion_Power” here at Tomatoville because nobody knows him better than he does. He does ship!!!

You could always check out Craig's seedling sale page to see what he will have this year. It'd be about a 2 hour drive to Raleigh for you, but it would most likely be a larger selection of plants to choose from.
Plus, you could ask him to sign your copy of his book! Lee

I was about to offer to start some plants for you but then looked up and saw you're closer to Raleigh than rock hill. Lee is way ahead of me on the suggestion to get plants from Craig L!

There is always the state farmers market in Raleigh near Lake Wheeler. Open 7 days a week. Driving here will make some expensive tomato plants! Try craigslist, I've seen local sellers advertise there as well and you might find some closer.

Thanks for the Raleigh info, good folks.....we just had 3 people resign in the last week or two at work, so my spring schedule just got a whole lot rougher....I may have to buy some plants this year as well.
Cheers, Lori

You would be fortunate if you can get seedling from Craig-and he may even have a lot of the Dwarf Project varieties available.

You might have a couple of weeks on us, but typically the best bet is the following schedule.
3/1- plant seeds 4/1- transplant to larger pots 5/1- set out in garden Last frost is mid April, but there's always the chance of getting hit late April. Also, the soil is still cool, and you won't gain anything by setting your plants out 2 weeks earlier in cool soil. I would say down east, adjust +2 weeks and western NC adjust -2~3 weeks. Lee

This is my exact schedule in Raleigh. I do start hardening them off outside in late April before they go into their final spot.
