Default Hot Weather Replacement Tomato

I had to pull a 5 foot tall Brandy Boy yesterday. I think the weather here in El Dorado Hills just east of Sacramento is a little hot for that variety. It initially set some fruit but then as soon as the 90+ temps arrived it shut down and leaves started browning. I have 5 Earthtainers and all on auto watering. The other plants are doing well other than some green shoulders because of the 100 degree temps we had a few weeks ago. I now have a vacancy in one of the containers and am thinking about just putting in a Hybrid I can count on. I already have Red Cherry, Ace, 2 Big Boys and Green Zebra. The Big boys and cherries are doing well.
I am thinking that a Better Boy would be a good choice. We don't get frost until probably December at the earliest and even then it might only be between midnight and 7 AM.

Any other recommendations for a heat hardy hybrid would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Doyle

My pair of Better Boys are doing fine here in Campbell. I do have a shade cloth over top, giving some protection now.

Consider Big Beef. It is a reliable, heavy producing beef steak with very good taste. Not as good as say Brandywine, but, substantially better than others like early girl. Also, if you can find a transplant out there, consider black and brown boar (Wild boar farms). It is closer to a saladette size, but it is a reliable, heavy producer and more importantly, it is a plant that the fruit doesn't get mushy/mealy or lose a lot of flavor as the nights get longer and cooler in fall. Good luck!

Tycoon is a fairly new hybrid that is a Texas Superstar plant and will set fruit in the summer heat. It is said to surpass Celebrity performance, and produces large red oblate fruit. It is highly resistant to disease (including tomato yellow leaf curl virus) and nematodes.

In the heat of the Las Vegas Desert, the champ here is Hawaiian Tropical.
