Any idea what these little bugs are?

I've got one plant where I've found these tiny black bugs (maybe 1/16" across,) maybe a beetle of some kind? They were first noticed covering a bud, and then the next day on a leaf. There are, as you can see, some white things that are probably eggs. When I first picked the leaf this morning, the bugs were all clustered together away from the eggs and by the time I carried the leaf up to my porch they had started to crawl up on top of the eggs.

Are these bad guys or good guys? It seems to me that I've seen these same white eggs in years past, but I don't think I've ever seen the bugs.

Stink bugs. Seek, destroy and do not let even one get past you. These guys will ruin a crop in a short amount of time.

Thanks everyone! I looked at a picture of the adults and I have seen them in the garden before, but didn't know what they were. They look kind of like squash bugs so I've always crushed them when I see them. They make a nice satisfying crunch when smashed against a hard surface. I guess they had a nursery going on this one plant. I'll be on the lookout now for them.

Weird that they're shield shaped as adults (I think) but oval as youngsters?
