Default fermenting ? Has anyone ever...?

I was wondering. I have searched and not found anything about this on the forum. Has anyone ever used a ziploc baggie (freezer) to ferment seeds in lieu of cups/buckets/etc? Any advice will be helpful as I think this may be less messy, and want to see what others opinions are before I decide to try it and possible have problems. Thanks so much

I have...but not on purpose...lol.

And it was pretty messy.

A nice clean foam coffee cup with a nice neat snap-on plastic lid is much less mess. With the lid on, fruit flies can't get in and nothing spills out even if it tips over. I haven't found anything that works better.

I always, but always, use one pint clear plastic deli containers b/c that way you can monitor the fermentation by looking at the sides to see when the bubbles are starting to appear from the fermentation and how well the enzymes and acids produced are destroying the tomato tissues and releasing the seeds.

You can buy them anywhere they sell salads or takeout or whatever. When you say what you want them for you may get a few stares, but so what. I usually pay 10 cents/container.

You can also use the plastic short drinking glasses to accomplish the same thing if you're processing just a few fruits.

I love the deli pint containers idea. Thank you, I know that the store I shop at will give them to me for 10¢ as well since I bought a few for DH's salads when I had fresh veggies from the garden.

I use #2 baby food jars. I suspect next year, Grub will too!
