Earl of Edgecombe in a container?
Hi, am considering Earl of Edgecombe tomato as a first-time trial and have to figure out where to fit it. Will this variety work okay in a container or grow bag? If so, what would be the minimal reasonable size, or average best size to consider? (I know "bigger is always better," but if it needs too big would have to consider bumping another variety out of the raised bed to grow Earl there instead.)
All advice/opinions appreciated! |

I successfully grow large fruited dwarfs and small fruited indeterminates in 5 gallon buckets. They require nearly daily watering by mid summer and weekly feeding, but it can be done. I haven't tried medium//large fruited indeterminates in the 5 gallon buckets.
I'd say either give it a shot, or if you have a dwarf or small fruited indeterminate, maybe put that in the container and put EoE in the ground. I haven't tried containers smaller than 5 gallons, but I wouldn't go smaller. |

I've grown it in a large container - about 15 gallon US without any problems.
