What fert to use on Lettuce, Radish..
Spinach, Beets, and Carrots?
I never really use any before but wanted to try something out this season. Was thinking just Fish Emulsion to start. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks, Greg |

The only info I can share is that one year my carrots were really hairy and I was told that it was from too much nitrogen- I have no idea if that was true or not!

I don't really feed my carrots, they just get run off from neighboring tomatoes. Radishes as long as your soil is half decent probably shouldn't get fertilizer--you'll run the risk of getting all greens and little bulbs.
As far as lettuce and spinach, they definitely like a lot of nitrogen! I use higher N organics or Miracle Gro. Last edited by jmsieglaff; March 28, 2017 at 10:16 AM. Reason: corrected for shouldn't, not should |

I just had a soil test done and my organic garden is very high (too high actually) in all nutrients so I do not need to add anything at all except maybe some supplemental nitrogen to the tomatoes and corn. Everything else is fine with no added fert.
It is a fallacy that we need to be adding fertilizer every year. |
