Okay to add rock phosphate with Mychrorizze?
Has anyone tried this? I read that these fungi help the plant use the phosphorus already in the soil. Just wondering if you would make too much P available for plant and kill it. I hope this makes sense.

Thanks for the info. I might add some, but not as much as I had planned. I am using the Chappy's Power Organics mychrorizzae. All it says on the label is to not use inorganic fertilizer. Maybe I should not add any at all. Better to be on the safe side of things. I thought that I read if you use too much P with the mf, it will kill the plant. Is that right? My memory is not so good.

Creister, here's another.
http://www.ctahr.hawaii.edu/oc/freepubs/pdf/SCM-5.pdf From what I have read from a previous thread you have a couple inches of mulch in your growing area. I would get a roto tiller or double dig the area you are going to plant in, put in your tomato plants with the Chappy's and let it rip. Otherwise get your soil tested and then amend your soil according to the results. Ami

The P won't kill the plant... High P will kill the myco or render it ineffective.
Rock phosphate isn't high P and is also slow release anyway. If anything, regardless of myco, high P would promote roots and fruits (more flowers?) |
