First Setback of the Year: SNOW
Heavy wet snow is falling on this holiday Monday- Victoria Day which is the traditional planting out day in these parts. My outdoor tomatoes are still in pots in the greenhouse. I guess I will be holding off until the temperatures get back to seasonal normals now. My Yellow Canaries, Red Robins and Mirco Gemma (in pots) will have to hold me over until the main season varieties start ripening at the end of July.
I did harvest some baby carrots and mini chingensai (pak choi) yesterday in preparation for transplanting. Jeff |

OMG Jeff - this is rough! Poor tulips...
we are also having a cooler than normal spring this year, and everything in the garden seems to be late. Yesterday we had cold heavy rains with 52F (high), today I am hoping the temp will hit 60F (keeping my fingers crossed). Your mini tomatoes, carrots, and pak choy look great! My carrots just started sprouting .

Hi Tania,
I was hoping to plant out my eggplants in Kozykoats on the side of the house but it does not look like it will warm up until the weekend. More wet cool- perhaps snow- weather forecasted for Thursday. My apples had just bloomed and I now wonder if I will get a crop this year. I did see a few large bumble bees around the blossoms before the snow started to fly. hoping it warms up, Jeff |
