That is one of the prettiest shots of plants in a greenhouse that I have ever seen. You should have a great year. Good luck.

Looks great. Tell us about your greenhouse. Make, model, size, accessories, etc.
Inquiring greenhouse minds want to know. More pics, more pics.

It was made by a company called Underglass in New York. They shipped the whole thing to GA. We live on a slope so we had to build a retainer wall made of brick at the back part. We lost some light doing that but we had no other choice. size is 15x25
The floor is concrete with special drains for dirt. The water drains away from the house. Half of the pad was already in place as it was part of our pool area the other half was poured. I wish we would of sloped the concrete more as I do get some standing water from time to time in places. I looked and looked and looked for a potting table I liked but could not find one untill I looked at a restaurant supply place. The greenhouse was actually built over the table as it would never of fit in the door. It is on the back end where the brick wall is. It is nice as it has a foot pedal (to run the water) so if your hands are full of pots you can hit the pedal and water without using the on off switch. On the north side I made a big long bed and filled it with dirt, I imagined growing things like a big raised bed. That did not work out.... It was very hard to keep the soil balanced. I went ahead and put plywood over the beds and am just using it for a table. We have 2 fans built in that run on a switch and 2 fans that are freestanding. You can't have enough fans! It has 2 gas heaters and 2 swamp coolers. The swamp coolers really dont work out very well and I would like to figure out a better way to cool it. The greenhouse has aluminum shades. I do not really use them at all. I have 4 faucets and 6 electrical outlets. One mistake we made is that I did not get the greenhouse enough power. We have 2 automatic vents at the top that open at diffrent temps and when fans, coolers and everthing else was running I would trip the breaker. This has been fixed. The floor has a mister that runs along one side. I put this on a timer and it really helps to cool the house when it starts running hot. I think if I had to do it again I would make it smaller so I could afford to heat it in the winter! There really is a huge learning curve to having a greenhouse. There is a really great book by a guy named Shane Smith it is the most practical book I have purchased. He also had a website. I do not know the name as I gave away the copy I had. I will post some more pics tomorrow! Happy Gardening-Rena Edit that is 15x25 YIKES I drove 7 hours today... |

LOL I drove 7 hours today and I typed 15x30 it is really 15x25. I just measured the other day when someone asked me. It is funny when we were building it how important that was but then so many other things come into play...like Electricty!!

Great GH
Rena,
Have you got room for a fridge and chair?I would like to park myself in there. Great GH. With something like that I might even fall for things like orchids, carniverous plants, moss and bonsai. |

Nope, I really don't miss it much! I miss the farm/ranch I grew up on. This is a 11+ year project that we just keep building an adding on to. My husband will not sell to buy a farm

Hi Rena,
Your pictures are awesome. That is something I would love to do someday. It really looks professional. Are you on the ocean or a lake?
