Default Amish Old Red, Brandy Boy and Momotaro photo

I just picked these tonight-from left to right is Momotaro, Brandy Boy and Amish Old Red. The AOR was 13 1/8 oz. They were wonderful.

How did Amish Old Red taste?

Your momotarou looks quite orange red as opposed to pink...probably just the lighting conditions of your photo.

Jeff-Momotaro is pink-it is the photo. AOR was great-very deep tomato taste.

Momataro was wonderful-I just picked 3 more of them to have with dinner tonight. The largest was 7 1/8 oz.

How does Brandyboy compare to Brandywine? Its a hybrid of Brandywine and Better Boy, right? I'm sure its easier to grow than its heirloom stock, but how does the taste measure up?

Organichris-I dont know what goes into Brandy Boy-and I am growing Brandywine for the first time in the fall-so I am sorry I cannot answer your questions. I am sure someone here will be able to. I will tell you that Brandy Boy is a great tasting tomato-big fruit and wonderful complex taste.

I got some feedback from Feldon on a taste comparison between the Brandywine and the Brandyboy. He said Brandyboy has about 70% of the Brandywine flavor. That sounds pretty good to me, but the thing that stuck out in your description of the Brandyboy flavor was your use of the word "complex". To me, Brandywine fits into the "complex" category with the perfect balance of acid and sweet with a perfect meaty texture.
