Default A few very large ones!

Good picking yesterday, and a chance to show some color contrasts, as well as a few we don't discuss much here.

The two large pale yellow fruit on the left (1.5 pounds each) are Hugh's. Moving right, Cherokee Chocolate, then Cherokee Purple, Shannon's, Green Giant, Cherokee Green, and Stump of the World (clockwise). The two smaller white ones in the middle are Dreamy F1, from one of Patrina's dwarf crosses.

This has been a good year to answer the following questions:

1. Can you grow indeterminate varieties in pots?
A - YES! These are grown in 10 gallon pots, the plants are 7 feet plus tall, and I will get probably 20-25 pounds of fruit from each.
2. Can you get full sized tomatoes from plants in pots?
A - YES! I've never picked such large tomatoes - Cherokee Purple and Chocolate and Green each coming in at 10-24 ounces, Hugh's at 20-24 ounces, Green Giant at 10-20 ounces! And Lucky Cross (on both plants - just about to ripen) just as large.
3. Can tomatoes grown in pots have good flavor?
A - YES! The flavors this year are outstanding! Fully as good as when I grew these varieties in my garden soil.

However it has been resource intensive - fertilizing every 2 weeks, and watering twice a day once the plants got large. Well worth it, however!

Craig, nice tomatoes. Looks like "Green Giant" lived up to it's name. How does Hugh's taste? Ami

Ditto on the Hugh question. I grew it last year and the taste did not pop out at me. Nice pics as usual.
