Bad News...No 5 gal. grow bags

After receiving the new Peaceful Valley catalog, I went immediately to the "easy lift" grow bags page. They no longer carry the 5 gallon size. The smallest is the 12 gal. now. Poop! I even checked online to see if they were there but no luck. If anyone knows of another source, please tell.

Try Park seeds. They had multiple sizes. Out of curiosity I decided to give them a try. Was sent some Golden Delight seeds and thought Grow Bags might wotk with small Determinate plants.

I emailed them and they said that they did have them - not sure why they didn't show in either the print or online catalogs. May be worth calling them - I plan to get some as well.

What is a grow bag? Is that one of those green things that you can hang up?

I have been planting right ionto bags of pottings soil, with great success. They do so much better then in my garden direct.

Here are some totals for the other season.

Sweet Baby Girl-677.5 per plant
First Lady-total- 113 per plant

I called PV today and they are totally out of the 5 gal. size and said they are no longer manufactured. Craig, did you buy them out??? I may have to take back 6 that I gave to my half-hearted tomato friend last summer. I won't feel too bad about that since she won't be planting tomatoes this summer.

Wow! No, I bought 40 of them last spring....wonder why they decided to not make them anymore? Bummer...I was going to purchase more this year! Also, the fellow I emailed obviously didn't know what I was requesting, since he thought that they did have them. Oh well...

That is probably why we were able to purchase them at 1/2 price. Maybe we could flood the company with emails for our cause like we do our senators? I didn't see them at the Park Seed either.

Thanks for the tips. Cecil...the growbags are white in color, woven, and have handles to pack them around. They look like a paper shopping bag with handles. I did find a place in Oregon, Phoenix Farm and Garden, that has over 20- 7 gallon bags in stock for $3.00 ea. I found them by googling the Easi-Lift grow bags. Thanks Dice, those hydroponic ones are different than the woven types.

How many seasons do these growbags usually last?

I don't know Tania as I've only had them since last season. I would guess several years up here as they are pretty tightly woven and we don't have the hot sun beating down on them.

even with the hot sun in the desert southwest, I have used them for at least 5-6 years and no problem. but i have only used the ones from peaceful valley farm supply.

broponics seems to have 5 gal grow bags. They are an ebay merchant with all positive feedback thus far. Just curious, are you all using 5 gal bags for just smaller det.tomatoes? Any reason not to use larger bags?
