Finished the EarthTainer Project Today - Phase 6 of 6 Done.
Finished the final construction step today by installing the cage extensions. I took the same heavy duty Walmart 54 inch cages, cut the legs off and flipped the cage over top the existing one. Used wire tie-wraps to secure the extension to the base cage. Total cage height above the mulch is 78 inches. The 150 pound weight of the EarthTainer base should keep things stable even in windy conditions.
Picked my first Stupice yesterday, with lots of fruitset on JD Special C-Tex, Cherokee Chocolate, and Purple Haze. Gary Ibsen will be here on Friday for the filming of the construction of an EarthTainer for linking on the TomatoFest website. Life's good!! Ray |

You could have left one leg on one sticking up for a pennant.:-)

dice,
I kept the cut-off legs so I could re-attach one of them for a flag. Guess Dear Wife could sew me up a Tomatoville Flag. Would make for a neat photo when the plants reach full mast...... Ray |
