Gobig,
I am just blown-away by how prolific the PH plants are. These are from F2 seed, so I have 2 PL and 2 RL plants now growing. The surprise to me is that I was expecting cherry size tomatoes on the RL, and larger fruit on the PL. As of today's picking, the PL is producing the cherry type, and the RL plants appear to have the larger sized fruit. Am hoping that the larger ones will keep growing into something "slicer" size. chuckker,
Not doing anything special, just growing in containers using Miracle Grow potting mix. Still early in the season, so am still on a "learning curve" re: wicking opening, and other fine tune adjustments that I will make for my Fall crop. I'm experiencing minor Oidium Mold on a few plants and am (reluctantly) using Daconil for the first time ever. Corn is doing great and I have had to do nothing to it as of today. No pests or leaf problems (so far). Ray |

AWESOME, just plain AWESOME !!!
I'd like to know how productive your corn turns out, I love Silver Queen but don't have room to grow it here at the new house, but I have room for a couple of earth tainers

Ray, how much corn do you grow in each earth tainer ? looks like a dozen or more ? Do you think having them so close together may make pollination of the ears a bit iffy ?

matereater,
This is my first year growing corn in containers, so I am "blissfully ignorant" as to the constraints. I do routinely go out and shake the stalks as pollen then falls down on the ear's tassels. The ears are about 8" long at present, and are about 3" in diameter. I have about 20 stalks now growing in each 'Tainer - most with 2 ears each. Ray |
