Holes in Leaves
2 Attachment(s)
These 2 Tomato plants are outside of my garden and these 2 have either torn or eaten holes in leaves. Must be a bug, nasty rain for 5 days .

That looks like caterpillar damage.
I found a tiny caterpillar on the underside of one leaf of a Black Krim the other day after I noticed small holes in the leaf. Also had a couple leaves on a Cayenne Pepper plant with leaf miner damage. It was after some rain too. I don't usually have much bug problems on Tomatoes and peppers here, the only exception was a couple horn worms last August on one Tomato Plant and one pepper plant. I'm starting to think that after the unusually mild winter bug pressures might be up this year and I'll have to be more vigilant. |
Thanks I put some Seven on these 2 plants. Trying to keep the alive, i dont like Seven but its the best i use it this bugs.

I'm north of you, and I have the same thing going on with my 'volunteers' in my raised beds. However; the 'serious' tomatoes in my Earth Boxes, Smart Pots, and other containers are just fine...outside of the beating they have taken from the endless wind and rain.

You can use a BT based product for caterpillars; no need to throw an atom bomb with Sevin. BT=not a pesticide, uses a natural enemy and is guaranteed to do this job. Sevin=very strong chemicals that can get into the groundwater.
